Transform Windows XP into Mac OS X with Flyakit

If you’re one of the many people bored with XP’s look, there’s a big chance that you’ve tried Vistamizer or Windows X’s Vista Transformation Pack, or even the Se7en Transformation Pack for XP.

But of course, you might have gotten bored of the Vista/Seven feel too. So why not try a Mac OS X transformation pack for a change?

Back in late 2006, Portrait of a Kite released a project titled ‘Flyakite OSX’. The project included a complete transformation pack that contained XP skins and various tweaks and customizations to get as close as possible to the real Mac feel as possible. However, for reasons still unclear, the project is no longer being updated. Still, the transformation pack works great for current XP installations (tested up to SP 2 only).

What it does, basically:

Modify the XP theme system, add a bunch of new icons and sounds to the system
Modify the system icon files, changing them to their Mac counterparts
Modify the boot and welcome screens
Add various tweaks related to Mac OS X’s behavior
Add various applets to top-up the feel (some of these applets are RK Launcher, Ubericon, iZoom, and Yz’Shadow)
and add a bunch of new cursors and system animations
